1.2 g per day of Kyolic aged garlic extract, standardized to S-allylcysteine, for three months in adults with hypertension (the GarGIC trial). Moved blood pressure, arterial stiffness, and inflammation-related markers in a modest, part-of-the-population way; earlier AGE trials showed clearer blood-pressure effects in hypertensive subgroups. Honest read: a real but modest cardiovascular-risk candidate, in one studied form.

Safety red flags
- On warfarin, a DOAC, aspirin, or any antiplatelet drug: talk to the prescriber managing those drugs before adding a garlic extract.
- Easy bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums while using it: stop and call a clinician.
Label reading notes
- Aged garlic extract is a specific preparation. Fresh garlic and generic garlic powder do not inherit this evidence.
- The standardization marker is S-allylcysteine; a label without it is not the studied material, whatever the allicin math on the front.
- On anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs the pairing is a bleeding-risk conversation; tracked in our interaction base.
